May 18th, 2018

{Wyomissing, PA – October 2, 2018} – Glen-Gery, one of North America’s largest brick and stone manufacturers, will host the 2018 Virginia Regional Spec Mix Bricklayer 500 competition for the third consecutive year. This year’s competition will be held on Thursday, October 4 at the Glen-Gery Capitol Plant, located at 9905 Godwin Drive in Manassas, Va. at 11:00 AM. Nine teams, each consisting of a mason and a tender, will compete for one-hour to build the biggest and best-quality brick walls. This year contestants are using a new Glen-Gery product, manufactured on site at the brick plant. Walls will be judged by a panel of a dozen judges. Masons from across the nation who take first place in the regional competitions throughout the year will qualify to attend the championship held at World of Concrete in Las Vegas in January. The event is open to the public and all are welcome. In addition to the competition, there will be raffles, food, drinks and other events. All proceeds of the event will be donated to the American Cancer Society. This year’s competition is dedicated to Kevin McKay who passed away this year after a long battle with brain cancer. The Capitol Plant site is also the home of the Glen-Gery Masonry Supply Center, one of Glen-Gery’s 10 company-owned distribution locations where Glen-Gery products as well as other masonry brands and accessories may be purchased by contractors, builders, mason’s nd homeowners.
